Gateway Regional Center Committees
Gateway Redevelopment and Neighborhood Park Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC)
The Gateway Regional Center is one of eleven Urban Renewal Areas (URAs) within the City of Portland and is currently underserved by parks and is primed for quality redevelopment opportunities. In 2008, Portland Development Commission (PDC) and Portland Bureau of Parks & Recreation (PP&R) jointly acquired a four-acre property (NE 106th and NE Halsey Street) that provides the City of Portland with an opportunity to create a three-acre neighborhood park with one acre of catalytic, complementary redevelopment.
The site is served by outstanding transit, bicycle, car, and pedestrian access, and is close to a neighboring shopping and business district. The land is flat, open, and relatively uninhibited by neighboring development and will serve three key neighborhoods – Hazelwood, Mill Park, and Parkrose.
The consultant team will provide a schematic design for the park that has community support and conceptual predevelopment feasibility analysis. Site redevelopment will be linked to market and financial conditions.
