Downtown Waterfront

You are invited to provide input into the decision on the future of the Downtown Waterfront Urban Renewal Area (DTWF URA).

The DTWF URA sunsets/expires in April 2004. This will directly impact the Commission’s ability to generate resources through bond sales for urban renewal projects and economic development programs in the downtown area. A series of options need to be considered by the Commission in anticipation of this upcoming deadline.

The presentation listed below will help you to better understand:

• How the DTWF URA operates.
• The available resources in the URA.
• The priority projects and programs competing for resources.
• Potential options for the future of the URA.

The purpose is to inform interested parties and generate discussion.

On November 19, 2003, PDC hosted a public hearing on the future of the Downtown Waterfront Urban Renewal Area (DTWF URA), which is scheduled to expire in April 2004. Of the 27 private citizens who testified at the hearing, all agreed that PDC and its private, public and non-profit partners have reduced blight and helped revitalize Portland's downtown area over the last thirty years.

We continue to encourage comment which can be submitted using the feedback form below.

This is part of our efforts to include Portlanders in a policy decision that is intended to be made on December 17, 2003, at the monthly Commission meeting (location to be announced).

Citizens who want to advocate for a particular project or program should plan to attend these meetings.
