OCC Welcomes Sara King Sara King has been selected as the new development manager for the Oregon Convention Center (OCC) Urban Renewal Area, replacing Michael McElwee. Most recently Sara was development manager for the Gateway Regional Center Urban Renewal Area. She has worked for PDC since 1999 splitting her time between OCC URA and Gateway. Prior to working at PDC, she worked as a land use planner, in both the public and private sectors. She served as the co-chair of the Richmond Neighborhood Association for a year and as the land use chair for several years. Sara is an accomplished equestrian who pilots horses over three-foot fences with ease. Regarding her new position, Sara commented “I am thrilled to be working in the OCC again and look forward to connecting with stakeholders.” You can reach Sara at 503-823-3468, or by email. Good in the Neighborhood On June 24-25, PDC staffed a booth at the annual Good in the Neighborhood event at King School Park in northeast Portland. The event featured community booths, food, music, a marketplace, and fun activities for kids. Staff distributed information about housing and business loan programs and also had maps describing projects taking place along MLK Jr. Blvd. Staff reported good public participation in the event on Saturday but Sunday’s blistering heat kept many people at home.
