An important economic development tool: Enterprise Zone Tax Abatement Qualified companies locating or expanding in the Enterprise Zone receive extended tax abatements for five years on property taxes for new construction and equipment purchases. Entrepreneurs take note PSU is currently converting the former David Evans Building (2828 SW Corbett) into an Early Stage Business Accelerator focusing on the development and growth of companies in medical and security technologies. This facility will provide work space, business development and shared services including mentoring, legal and market development assistance, financing referrals, as well as other typical services such as copying, IT services, and conference rooms.

Low-income entrepreneurs get help from Mercy Corps Northwest MCNW is Mercy Corps’ U.S. economic development office, assisting low-income entrepreneurs in their desire for economic stability through starting or expanding a small business in the six-county Portland-Vancouver metropolitan region.
