WHEN: Friday, May 16 at 12:30 p.m.
WHERE: Shaver Green project site
4011 NE Martin Luther King, Jr., Boulevard
WHY: This LEED Gold certified housing project is a partnership of state and local public and private partnerships. When completed in fall 2009, this project will bring an innovative, sustainable affordable and workforce housing to the heart of NE Portland.
MORE: PDC provided just over $3.1 million of the construction costs to this project with $2.1 million coming from Interstate Corridor Urban Renewal Area funds and $1 million coming from federal HOME funds. The total project cost is approximately $16 million. Per City Council directive, 30 percent of all tax increment funds (TIF) in an urban renewal area must be set aside for affordable housing. The units at Shaver Green will contribute toward the Interstate Corridor Urban Renewal Area’s TIF set aside goals. The new building will feature 85 units of affordable and workforce rental housing.
